SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes fell to New York City FC 2-1 on Saturday night at Avaya Stadium. The Quakes finished with 19 total shots and 10 shots on target, both season-highs.
Earthquakes defender Yeferson Quintana scored his first MLS goal in the third minute, heading in Magnus Eriksson’s corner to give the Quakes an early lead.
New York City scored two goals in the second half through Anton Tinnerholm (49th minute) and Maximiliano Moralez (60th minute) to secure the visitors’ victory.
