Quakes set record in draw with Toronto FC

SAN JOSE – Another classic Chris Wondolowski goal wasn’t enough to keep the San Jose Earthquakes from setting another low mark in a dismal season.

The Earthquakes tied Toronto FC 1-1 Saturday night at Avaya Stadium. Their 10-game home winless streak is a new club record in the MLS era, which began in 1996.

Wondolowski entered as a second-half sub for the fourth straight game, coming on in the 64th minute. Thirteen minutes later, a long pass from defender Nick Lima freed Wondolowski down the right side. His initial shot was saved by Alex Bono, but the captain chipped the rebound over the keeper for his seventh goal of the season and the 141st of his MLS career, four shy of Landon Donovan’s league record.
