April 10, 2001 – Signed Ronnie Ekelund as discovery player
The Earthquakes signed midfielder Ronnie Ekelund as a discovery player. Ekelund spent four seasons with the Earthquakes from 2001-2004, winning two MLS Cups. In his four years at San Jose, Ekelund started 84 of the 91 matches he featured in, tallying 11 goals and 16 assists for the Quakes.
April 11, 2001 – Peter Bridgwater named consultant for Earthquakes
Peter Bridgwater began his Bay Area soccer career in 1984 when he took over as the general manager for the Earthquakes in the North American Soccer League (NASL).
