SANTA CLARA — Alexis Sanchez is the latest Manchester United star the Earthquakes and their fans probably won’t get to see Sunday in a summer exhibition at Levi’s Stadium.
Sanchez, 29, has been unable to obtain a visa to enter the United States because of a tax-fraud case this year, according to British media reports. The Chilean striker was not part of the team that landed in Los Angeles last weekend to prepare for a five-game U.S. tour that includes the upcoming friendly against the Quakes.
Sanchez accepted a 16-month suspended jail sentence in Spain, an action that prevents him from entering the United States, the reports said.
