NEWS: Eric Calvillo Commits to the El Salvador U-23 National Team

San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Eric Calvillo has committed to join the El Salvador U-23 National Team ahead of Olympic qualifying in March. Calvillo is eligible to play for El Salvador due to Salvadorian descent on his mother’s side.

Calvillo, 23, already carries international experience by representing the United States at the U-15, U-17 and U-19 levels, including being named to the United States’ 21-man roster at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The Palmdale, Calif. native signed with San Jose prior to the 2018 season. He has since made four starts in 11 MLS appearances, setting single-season career-highs in minutes (184), appearances (6), and assists (1) in 2020, as well as making his first MLS postseason appearance against Sporting Kansas City on Nov.
