SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has signed midfielder Tommy Thompson and defender Marvell Wynne to new multi-year contracts.
Thompson, 21, became the Earthquakes’ first-ever Homegrown Player signing on Jan. 22, 2014, following one season at Indiana University where he was named the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year. Soon after, Thompson became the second-youngest player to ever start a match for the Quakes by earning a spot in the starting XI against Seattle Sounders FC on Aug. 20, 2014.
“Tommy has shown a lot of promise in his first few seasons with the club and is a big part of the young core group of players we want to build around moving forward,” said technical director Chris Leitch.
