SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has signed first-round MLS SuperDraft selection Thomas Williamson to a one-year contract with club options for 2022, 2023 and 2024. Williamson will spend the 2021 season on loan with USL Championship side Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
Williamson, 21, was selected 12th overall in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. He competed for the California Golden Bears from 2017 to 2020. After a COVID-related postponement of the 2020 Pac-12 season, Williamson made one appearance in the conference’s delayed restart in 2021, tallying an assist in the season opener against Stanford before joining the Quakes for preseason in Santa Barbara.
