SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has signed defender Florian Jungwirth to a new multi-year contract.
Jungwirth was selected as the club’s Defensive Player of the Year in two of his three seasons to date with San Jose (2017, 2019). He is just the second Earthquakes field player to win the award more than once (Jeff Agoos; 2001, 2003).
“Florian has been an integral part of our defense for the past three seasons,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli. “His experience and ability to direct our defensive line have proved invaluable to the team and we’re excited he’ll continue to fight for us in the coming years.
