NEWS: Earthquakes Midfielder Anibal Godoy Undergoes Surgery to Remove Scar Tissue

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Anibal Godoy underwent surgery on Tuesday morning to remove scar tissue in his abdomen that was impairing bilateral nerves. The surgery is expected to sideline the midfielder for six weeks.

The injury caused Godoy to depart the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup prior to Panama’s first Group Stage match.

Godoy, 29, signed with San Jose in August of 2015. He has since made 99 appearances, including 97 starts, and tallied five goals and seven assists. He helped Panama qualify for and compete in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
