The San Jose Earthquakes will try to win their fourth game in a row Sunday, when they take on the Portland Timbers in Providence Park.
The Quakes won 3-0 on Wednesday over the Vancouver Whitecaps, their good vibes extending beyond back-to-back wins over the Los Angeles teams. Now comes a very good test in the Timbers, the 2nd place team in the Western Conference, who comprehensively beat San Jose, 6-1, when these teams met way back on Sept. 19.
After starting the local return to play phase shaky themselves, Portland have won their last four games and seem to be finding a rhythm.
