Earthquakes star Chris Wondolowski has joined U.S. legend Landon Donovan as Major League Soccer’s all-time leading goalscorer.
Wondolowski scored his 145th career goal Saturday against the Chicago Fire to catch Donovan. The 21st–minute goal came on a pass from Shea Salinas across the net. Wondolowski tapped in the ball after getting behind defender Jorge Corrales.
The next one will make the overlooked striker out of Chico State the No. 1 scorer on the all-time list.
The Quakes took Wondolowski, a Danville native and De La Salle High graduate, 89th overall in the 2005 draft. He scored four goals in 39 appearances in the first five years while relocating with the team to Houston in 2006.
