Andre Wangard, a goalkeeper for San Jose Earthquakes’ U-19 Academy squad, has been competing internationally. Holding a dual citizenship, Wangard is training with Nicaragua’s U-20s ahead of the 2017 Central American Games from Dec. 3-17.

The 2017 Central American Games is a tournament for players 20-years-old and under, which includes many summer Olympic sports and multiple venues. The Nicaragua soccer team will compete with Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica, Belize and El Salvador, with gold, silver and bronze medal teams moving on to compete in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games.

After attending trials last winter in Miami, he was subsequently invited to train with the full Nicaraguan National team as part of the team's preparation for CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifiers.
