This past Saturday, the San Jose Earthquakes U-16 Girls' Academy team had the experience of a lifetime, playing in a California Clasico at Avaya Stadium. Over 1,000 fans came out to support the reigning USSDA champs as they looked to beat LA in the first-ever Girls' Academy match played in the Quakes' stadium. In the 34th minute of the match, Peyton Marcisz put the Quakes up 1-0.
The Quakes were dominant in the match but were unable to stretch their lead by the 90th minute. In the third minute of stoppage time, the Galaxy scored an equalizer to stun the crowd at Avaya.
