STANFORD — What a shock. The California Clasico produced another classic Saturday night at Stanford Stadium.
Reserve Shea Salinas scored in extra time as the Earthquakes rallied for a 2-1 victory to give new coach Chris Leitch a MLS debut lift.
In a game San Jose (7-6-5, 26 points) badly needed, it got with fireworks in the final 15 minutes.
It led to star Chris Wondolowski dancing with the team’s loyal supporters afterward.
The comeback was ignited by goalkeeper David Bingham, who made a dramatic move in the latest edition of the heated Clasico. The former Cal star made back-to-back saves as the Earthquakes faced a dire situation with 15 minutes left in regulation.
