SAN JOSE — The Earthquakes’ chances of reaching the MLS Cup playoffs could come down to Wednesday night’s home game against the Philadelphia Union.
But San Jose (13-13-5, 44 points) will be without two of its best players and its coach after the three were ejected last weekend in a 3-1 defeat to Atlanta United. Leading scorer Chris Wondolowski (14 goals), top playmaker Cristian Espizonza and coach Matias Almeyda are not available against the Union (15-9-7, 52 points).
The Quakes hold the seventh and final playoff spot in the Western Division with three games left.
