SAN JOSE — On a day the Earthquakes introduced two new European players Thursday, the up-and-coming team also has struck a deal with an attacking midfielder from Albania.
San Jose plans to announce Friday the signing of FC Lucerne’s Jahmir Hyka, a league source confirmed after ESPN FC first reported the transaction.
Hyka, 28, is the latest foreign signing in the past two weeks that potentially boosts the Quakes’ prospects heading into the season opener March 4 against the Montreal Impact.
New general manager Jesse Fioranelli, the mastermind behind a blizzard of recent roster upgrades, wouldn’t confirm the Hyka signing, only saying a deal was imminent.
