Earthquakes re-sign Chris Wondolowski for one more season

The top goal scorer in MLS history is returning to the San Jose Earthquakes for one more season.

“I’m very excited to be back for one more year,” Chris Wondolowski said in a release from the Earthquakes announcing the contract.

Wondolowski didn’t explicitly say 2020 would be his final season, but his father Chris told this news organization earlier this month that his son wanted to play one more year.

Wondolowski, 36, scored 15 goals last season for the Quakes, including a four-goal game against Chicago in which he broke Landon Donovan’s record for goals scored in Major League Soccer.
