Earthquakes Goalkeeper Bryan Meredith Undergoes Successful Surgery to Repair Abdominal Strain

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Bryan Meredith underwent a successful surgery on Friday to repair an abdominal strain. The surgery was performed by Dr. Bill Hutchinson in Los Angeles and is expected to sideline the Quakes’ keeper for six weeks.

Meredith, 26, is a five-year MLS veteran and has been with San Jose each of the past three seasons. Meredith has started each of the Quakes’ three U.S. Open Cup matches over the past two seasons. He appeared in 12 games, making 10 starts, for Seattle Sounders FC in 2012 and currently holds a 3-3-5 career record with three shutouts.
