As the U.S. men’s soccer team begins its overhaul after embarrassingly failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, an Earthquakes player will get a shot to prove his worth.
Quakes Homegrown defender Nick Lima received the call from U.S. interim manager Dave Sarachan to join the 30-man roster for training camp, beginning Jan. 10 in Carson, California. He was the lone Earthquakes player named to the U.S. roster, which will debut its new, younger roster in a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Jan. 28 at StubHub Center in Carson.
Lima, a Castro Valley native and Cal product, had an impressive 2017 rookie campaign for the Quakes which saw him finish fourth in MLS Rookie of the Year voting.
