CHESTER, Pa. -- The Philadelphia Union was up a goal and up a man and looked well on its way to keeping its perfect record at Talen Energy Stadium intact on a cool, sunny day in Chester, Pennsylvania. But Simon Dawkins had other ideas.
Dawkins weaved his way through a wave of defenders to score the tying goal in the 83rd minute for the San Jose Earthquakes and allow the visiting Earthquakes to steal a point in a 1-1 draw that snapped a two-game losing streak to the Union. Philadelphia had taken the lead in the 30th minute on Chris Pontius' fourth goal of the season, and the Union looked like a lock to take all three points when Anibal Godoy was shown his second yellow card and ejected in the 59th minute.
