El Salvador finished their Concacaf Olympic qualifying tournament on a high note Tuesday, as they defeated Haiti 2-1 to close Group B play. Josh Perez scored a first-half brace for El Salvador, to cancel out Roberto Louima’s early goal for Haiti, and the Central Americans notched their first win of the tournament.
San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Eric Calvillo saw playing time for El Salvador once again, this time off bench as a late sub for Enrico Dueñas. Calvillo played in each of La Selecta’s group stage games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Unfortunately, because they went 1-1-1 in group play, El Salvador’s dream of reaching the Tokyo Olympics has fallen short, as Honduras and Canada progressed out of the group and into the knockout round ahead of El Salvador.
