SAN JOSE — Forward Danny Hoesen scored in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to give the San Jose Earthquakes a 1-0 victory over visiting Real Salt Lake on Saturday night at Avaya Stadium.
Hoesen was in a crowd in front of the net when he received a pass from midfielder Paul Marie, off a quick restart following a foul, and he one-timed a right-footed shot past Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando.
The late goal stretched San Jose’s home winning streak to eight games (7-0-1). Hoesen entered the contest in the 75th minute and provided the spark the Earthquakes needed.
