SAN JOSE — Earthquakes management wanted more goals this season.
But not the way they flowed Saturday night in a wild but erratic California Clasico at less-than-full Avaya Stadium.
The Quakes gave up a penalty kick, an own goal and two other scores on defensive breakdowns in a 4-2 defeat to rival Los Angeles Galaxy.
They also gave up a home winless streak that had reached eight games dating to last season.
San Jose (5-5-4) squandered what could have been a celebratory moment for a team that had gone 3-1-1 in the previous five games.
