Late in spring training, Yordano Ventura got absolutely pounded in a start against the San Francisco Giants, giving up 10 runs in four innings, including three home runs to Giants minor leaguers. In the understatement of spring training, Ventura said he wasn't locating his pitches very well. In his final spring tuneup, he pitched just two innings and gave up four hits and a run, although he did register four strikeouts. In his first outing in a game that counted, he scuffled through five innings against the Minnesota Twins, walking six batters but escaping with just two runs allowed.
