When Major League Baseball shut down spring training in March, it was a hurdle for all players to deal with, but especially for Mike Yastrzemski, who was ready to build on a breakout 2019 season with the San Francisco Giants.
Playing multiple outfield positions, Yastrzemski slugged 21 home runs and 55 RBI's over 107 games while playing well defensively in the field. He looked to be an integral piece of first-year head coach Gabe Kapler's plans. That was all thrown up into the air when the COVID-19 coronavirus shut down the league.
But Yastrzemski credited his years bouncing between the minor and majors to handle the challenge the pandemic presented.
