The narrative going into this series was all about Mike Yastrzemski playing where his grandfather built his Hall of Fame career. The odds that Yaz the Younger would provide a Big Moment were small. Failure is such an intrinsic part of being a hitter would have been easy for Yaz the Younger to have a quiet series. His first at bat was a good reminder of just how hard baseball is. Nathan Eovaldi struck him out on four fastballs, and none of them were slower than 97.8 mph.
While baseball is a game of failure, it’s also a game of second chances, and in this case third chances.
