The Giants received some mixed news regarding their starting pitching staff Tuesday.
San Francisco ace Madison Bumgarner was medically cleared to throw off flat ground, according to multiple reports.
"That's good news for us," Giants manager Bruce Bochy told MLB.com.
Bumgarner – a four-time All-Star and the 2014 World Series MVP who is on the 60-day disabled list – had pins put into his pitching hand after his left pinkie was broken by a comebacker during a spring training game against the Kansas City Royals on March 23. He can't be activated until May 25, but the news is positive for the Giants.
