PEORIA, Ariz.–For the second straight day, a Cactus League night game forced the Giants to make the drive from Scottsdale to Peoria in rush-hour traffic.
The 35-mile trip takes over an hour in the afternoon, and regardless of which route you travel, there’s no straight shot.
Unless you skip the roads and go over the valley, which is exactly what a few Padres’ players did Thursday.
In the third inning, Chase Headley, Cory Spangenberg and Eric Hosmer all launched pitches off of Giants’ starter Jeff Samardzija that might have landed all the way back in Scottsdale.
