LOS ANGELES–For most of his career, Andrew McCutchen has been the captain, the quarterback, the point guard and any other metaphor you’d like to associate with the leader of an outfield.
Now, he’s off to the side, still in the spotlight, but just a groomsman and not the groom.
After playing 1,315 career games in center field for the Pittsburgh Pirates, McCutchen is adjusting to more than just a new franchise this season. He’s playing a different position.
How’s he taking it?
“The mentality is catch everything,” McCutchen said. “For me, that’s what I’m trying to do, I’m just trying to catch every ball.
