The Giants will hand out the Willie Mac Award tonight, and while it’s the first Willie Mac ceremony held without the presence of its namesake, it will still be a happy occasion for the winner, and one that he’ll remember for the rest of his life.
The Willie Mac Award is given out annually by the Giants to the most inspirational player on the team, as voted on by players, coaches, the training staff, and, as of a couple years ago, the fans. Considering that the team will finish below .500 for the third consecutive year, there are actually a surprisingly large number of options of who could win.
