Pitching wins championships, and don't the San Francisco Giants know it.
In 2016, the San Francisco Giants will have the fifth-highest paid 25-man roster in Major League Baseball. They rank behind only the Tigers, the Red Sox, the Yankees and the Dodgers. But they top all teams in the bigs with the most money spent on pitching.
Over $96 million of their $171 million total payroll goes to pitching, a jump from the $81 million they spent on pitchers last season. Most of that additional salary goes to new face Johnny Cueto, who is set to make almost $16 million this year.
