What’s behind the Giants’ ability to rise above injury plague

PHILADELPHIA–It’s a survival of the fittest in the National League West, but no team expects to be clinging for life in early May.

“We’ve been hit as hard as anybody,” manager Bruce Bochy said. “Our top two guys, your closer, your left fielder, your second baseman. It’s just something we’re going to have to deal with.”

The Dodgers and Diamondbacks have taken hit after hit, but they’re in a place the Giants already know well. All three teams are backed into a corner, and just six weeks into the regular season, each franchise is testing the limits of its organizational depth.
