Good morning and happy Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the San Francisco Giants lost a special player. Mike McCormick died on June 16 at the age of 81, after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
I won’t pretend to have any memories of McCormick, who played his final game nearly two decades before I was born. But he did have a special career, largely with the Giants.
He debuted in 1956 for the New York Giants at just 17 years old. Two years later, he joined the organization as they moved to San Francisco. He spent five years in San Francisco, and made the All-Star team two different years (for a total of four appearances, since there were two All-Star Games a year then, and he made both of them).
