Joey Bart’s time with the San Francisco Giants major league camp has come to a close. On Tuesday, the team announced that Bart — the organization’s top prospect in most rankings — was being re-assigned to minor league camp.
This is certainly no indictment of Bart. It’s really just to make sure he’s getting steady playing time in the minors, while those who are actually battling for the opening day roster can get more reps.
The Giants have not yet announced where Bart will begin the season, but president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi has said in the past that the goal was for Bart to start in Triple-A.
