As the San Francisco Giants enter the final week of a mostly miserable, lost season, one MLB insider already has a list of potential replacements for president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi — despite the fact that Zaidi hasn’t been fired yet. USA Today insider Bob Nightengale dropped his latest weekly notebook Sunday morning and named former Marlins general manager Kim Ng and current Twins general manager Thad Levine as potential replacements, if the Giants decide to dismiss Zaidi.
Of course, the Giants have not fired Zaidi, even as speculation about his job status has ratcheted up in the past few weeks as the ballclub fell out of playoff contention.
