A lovely offer, though Thompson was extremely out of range to retrieve a homer (or alternatively, very confident in Crawford's abilities to smack the dinger of all dingers). It's unclear whether Thompson stayed for the whole ballgame or took off early, but in the end, the San Francisco Giants beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-1, putting a stop to a four-game losing streak. Crawford did not, in fact, blast a homer — he was 0-for-4 on the afternoon. No word yet whether Crawford will formally apologize for making Thompson wait around.
