SCOTTSDALE — Tim Lincecum’s long-awaited pitching showcase took place Friday with more than 20 major league team sending scouts to watch.
Lincecum, wearing cargo shorts and a T-shirt, took the mound at Scottsdale Stadium shortly after 2:30 p.m. He threw 20 pitches before taking a short break to mimick a change of innings and returning to the mound.
He planned to throw between 40 and 50 pitches. Chris Lincecum, Tim’s father, told The Chronicle before the showcase began that his son was comfortable with his full repertoire, including his slider and cutter, and the breaking ball “is the best I’ve seen it.
