The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League announced that pitcher Mary Pratt had died at the age of 101. Pratt was believed to be the final living member of the original Rockford Peaches team from 1943.
Pratt was also a pitcher for the Kenosha Comets, where she was part of the team that inspired the film A League of Their Own. Like so many women from that era of baseball, her contributions to the sport have been greatly underappreciated.
Yes, Barry Bonds, a relatively decent baseball player for the San Francisco Giants, hit a home run on this day in history.
