Almost every part of the San Francisco Giants season has been fun. A team projected to have long odds at even being in the postseason discussion carries baseball’s best record into the break, and every step of the journey has been as magical as that description would make it seem.
But not Monday, the team’s final off day of the regular season. On Monday the team found out that first baseman Brandon Belt — who has been one of their most valuable players this season, and their hottest hitter lately — has a fractured thumb.
