SAN FRANCISCO – The world finally saw Tim Lincecum on Friday. So did scouts from more than 20 major league clubs.
He took a mound at Scottsdale Stadium with no affiliation but heaps of interest. He wore baggy, khaki board shorts and camouflage socks — a fitting color scheme for a Giants franchise icon whose rehab from hip surgery and stealth throwing sessions had given him an air of mystery.
Baseball’s Greta Garbo appeared free and easy, and around the plate, but not always happy with the location of his pitches. He threw 20 pitches, took a five-minute break, and then threw 21 more.
