Good morning, baseball fans!
After yesterday’s fairly uneventful trade deadline for the San Francisco Giants, president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi was asked if he felt that the team was a playoff contender. His response was something to the effect that he was 100% sure this team could make the playoffs.
He took a bit of a bashing on social media after that. It’s a bold statement for any team, let alone one that’s sitting in fourth place in their division and four teams back of a wild card spot.
That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s wrong to be confident, but it definitely didn’t seem to be the tone that fans were looking for after a trade deadline that once again saw the team making minimal moves in either direction.
