Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford already won a Gold Glove this week for his defense in a breakout individual season. Soon he’ll have a silver bat to go with it.
Crawford was named a first-time winner of the Silver Slugger Award on Thursday, one of three Giants to receive the honor this year. Catcher Buster Posey won for a third time and pitcher Madison Bumgarner won for the second consecutive season.
The Silver Slugger is given to each league’s top offensive player at each position as voted on by managers and coaches.
Crawford led all National League shortstops in home runs (21) and RBIs (84) this season and set career-bests in batting average (.
