At 39 years old, Willie Mays stepped into the batter's box in a stadium that ceases to exist today against a team that isn't even around anymore with that same heralded club only having single digit members 46 years ago. Facing Mike Wegener of the Montreal Expos, Mays smacked a ball in between the third baseman and shortstop for a single to left field on an 0-2 count, marking hit 3,000th career hit on July 18, 1970 at Candlestick Park.
