If you had a sinking sense that Aaron Judge only used the Giants for leverage and was going to sign with the Yankees all along, the big man all but confirmed as much in an interview published Wednesday.
“Once things got started, all the feelings I promised to put aside came right back,” Judge told Bob Klapisch of NJ.com. “I knew in my heart that I wanted to re-sign with the Yankees, but I decided to listen to the other teams. At least go through with the process.”
It was a very lucrative process for Judge, who ultimately used the Giants to bid the Yankees up to a nine-year, $360 million contract.
