Bob Uecker, one of the most beloved figures in baseball history, was 90 years old when he died Thursday. That’s a great number to reach, regardless, but the fact that he was still broadcasting Brewers games last season at his age is a credit to him and his love of the game. It’s also a credit to the Brewers, who obviously understood what Uecker meant to the city and the fans while allowing him to set his own schedule and do what he was comfortable with.
The Giants have beloved and legendary announcers of their own — three of them, in fact, in Jon Miller, Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow.
