The Giants’ primary goal is to add power, but what if MLB changes the baseball again?

SAN FRANCISCO — At most of the team’s recent end-of-season press conferences, former Giants general managers Brian Sabean and Bobby Evans would outline the front office’s greatest offseason priorities.

It would go something like this: “We need a corner outfielder, a closer and another veteran starting pitcher.”

Simple enough.

At the end of Farhan Zaidi’s first year with the club, the president of baseball operations did not have the luxury of identifying two or three areas for growth and committing to a fix. After their third consecutive losing season, the Giants have a realistic need to pursue upgrades at nearly every position on the diamond.
