Why wait? Let’s salute Bruce Bochy, Hall of Famer-to-be.
His 2,000th win as a manager? A formality. He didn’t need that win in Boston on Wednesday. But it serves as a pleasing benchmark in a base-10 world. And that it happened at Fenway Cathedral was well played by the Fates. What a scene, with opposing fans calling out his name.
“I’ll tell you, I was sitting there and they started chanting. I’ve never had that happen before,” Bochy told MLB.com. “I had some emotions going through me during that. Really overwhelmed by it, to be honest.”
Baseball is a game of numbers, so many numbers that you can make a case for just about anyone for just about anything.
