As the San Francisco Giants fight for their postseason lives, Giants manager Bob Melvin was incensed at a seemingly awful strike-three call from home plate umpire Stu Scheurwater. And thanks to the NBC Sports Bay Area broadcast’s microphone, Melvin’s protest was heard loud and clear both before and after Scheurwater ejected him.
With the bases loaded, one out and a 2-2 count, Mark Canha seemed to work the count full on a pitch that appeared to be multiple inches both high and outside. But Scheurwater surprised everyone by calling it strike three.
Melvin was justifiably irate and didn’t try to hide it, with the television cameras showing him yelling from the dugout.
