SAN FRANCISCO — So, what’s the number of wins the Giants will need to earn a National League Wild Card spot this season? Eighty-six, maybe? Possibly 88, or as many as 90 or 91?
Whatever it is, there’s a growing unlikelihood that the Giants will even come close.
The Giants lost 3-2 to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday, their sixth loss in eight games as they fell 5.5 games back of the Chicago Cubs for the final postseason spot.
According to FanGraphs, the Giants have a 0.4 percent chance to make the playoffs after Tuesday’s loss.
