Strickland blows save in ninth as Giants fall to Marlins

SAN FRANCISCO — Hunter Strickland couldn’t hold a two-run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning Monday night as the Giants fell 5-4 to the Miami Marlins before a crowd of 36,473 at AT&T Park.

Andrew Suarez and Sam Dyson handed Strickland a clean ninth and a 4-2 lead, but the Giants’ closer walked Brian Anderson to lead off the ining and then gave up a run-scoring double to J.T. Realmuto.

Before Strickland was removed for Tony Watson, Lewis Brinson and Miguel Rojas had delivered run-scori singles before manager Bruce Bochy went out and got Strickland in favor of Tony Watson.
